An international workshop titled “Creating the Information Commons for e-Science:
Toward Institutional Policies and Guidelines for Action” will be conducted on September 1-2, 2005 at the Unesco Headquarters, Paris. The workshop will review the possibilities and challenges in creating e-science in the Internet Age. It will also examine the federal and academic procedures in the US, the EU and a few developing nations to manage public scientific content and the merits and demerits of open access to scientific information.
The workshop is organised by Unesco, the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), the International Council for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI), the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP), the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS).
