Cases Network is changing the way that doctors' knowledge and experience of medical cases can be used and shared. We are hosting an academic meeting to examine the role of individual patients' stories in everyday practice, and how case reports can help to place the patient and their experiences at the centre of healthcare. This meeting brings together medical leaders who will teach delegates more about how the traditional case report has been reinvigorated through online publication. Attendees will learn how narrative medicine and case reports can complement evidence-based medicine, how stories can teach us much more than surveys alone, and how web 2.0 technologies are changing the future of health care. Other topics covered will include the role of case reports in sharing knowledge on drug side effects, the relevance of case reports to GPs, and the benefit of case reports in the developing world.
