14th GW Ethics in Publishing Conference 2024: Shaping integrity in a time of change -

The prestigious George Washington University is gearing up to host the 14th GW Ethics in Publishing Conference on October 10, 2024, promising an enriching exploration of the theme "Integrity in a Time of Change." This hybrid event will take place at the City View Room, GW's Foggy Bottom Campus, and will also be accessible online, offering an inclusive platform for professionals, scholars, faculty, and students to engage in crucial discussions shaping the future of publishing ethics.

Organized by the Graduate Program in Publishing at the College of Professional Studies, George Washington University, this annual conference invites contributions from diverse stakeholders in the publishing, library, and scholarly communication realms. With a focus on fostering integrity amidst evolving landscapes, the conference seeks presentations addressing a wide array of topics, including but not limited to:

• Publishing equity in workplace and practice

• Impact of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility efforts

• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and research integrity

• Salaries/compensation transparency/openness

• Publishing and press sustainability

• Multilingualism and accessibility

• Inclusive practices in language editing and design

• Community-centered peer review practices, and more.

Alumni and current students of the GW Publishing program are encouraged to showcase their Ethics in Publishing Capstone projects or other research endeavors. Furthermore, students and alumni from other graduate and undergraduate publishing programs are invited to submit proposals, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange across academic institutions.

The 14th Ethics in Publishing Conference is proudly co-organized by Puja Telikicherla, Licensing & Subsidiary Rights Manager at American Psychiatric Association Publishing and Adjunct Professor at George Washington University, along with John W. Warren, Director and Associate Professor at George Washington University's Graduate Program in Publishing.

With the support of esteemed co-sponsors including the Association of American Publishers (AAP), Association of University Presses (AUPresses), Book Industry Study Group (BISG), Council of Science Editors (CSE), International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE), and Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), the conference promises to be a dynamic platform for insightful discussions and networking opportunities.

Attendees can look forward to a stimulating program featuring presentations, panel discussions, and workshops, with an optional opportunity to submit papers to the GW Journal of Ethics in Publishing (GWJEP).

Attendance to the conference is free-of-charge, both in-person and virtually, and open to all interested individuals.
