Academic and professional literature publisher Emerald Group Publishing Ltd., UK, and The Authors' Licensing and Collection Society (ALCS), in association with the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP) and the International Academy of African Business and Development (IAABD) have announced the winner of the 2009 Emerald/ALCS African Management Research Fund Award.
'Business response to climate change: exploring the emerging strategies in Africa' by Farai Kapfudzaruma and Raph Hamman, both from University of Cape Town, South Africa, will receive a prize fund of £2,500 towards their research project. In addition, the Winner will also be given the opportunity to receive the assistance of an experienced Emerald editor or former editor in helping write a high-quality article, offering the best chance of getting accepted for publication.
Applications were to address the dissemination of knowledge for the social good with a specific focus towards the benefit of Africa. A record 38 submissions were received from all over Africa, with notably high numbers from Kenya and Nigeria. An esteemed judging panel was assembled to review all submissions, including Professor Sonny Nwankwo, IAABD co-founder and Dr Umon Tom Umoh, IAABD Vice President for Communications/Publicity.
