Penn State's University Libraries again have been recognized among the top research universities in North America, according to the recently released 2013-14 Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Library Investment Index Rankings in the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The University Libraries are listed 8th in the ranking, which provides a snapshot of each research library's size of its collections and capacity to provide services to students, faculty and staff, as well as to visiting researchers.
The ARL ranking system, which examines 115 colleges and universities that provide data, is based on dollars spent for total library expenditures, salaries and wages and library materials plus the number of professional plus support staff employees.
