Library solutions provider 3M Library Systems has announced that the 3M Cloud Library App is now available in Barnes & Noble's NOOK Apps store, making it easier for owners of NOOK tablets to borrow eBooks from local libraries. Anyone with a NOOK HD, NOOK HD+, NOOK Tablet or NOOK Color can download the 3M Cloud Library App directly from the NOOK Apps storefront, and then transfer digital content wirelessly to their device without having to physically connect to a computer.
3M is continuously introducing new features to further improve the look and functionality of its eLending system, including improved search capabilities. Users can now opt to browse only titles that are immediately available for check out, eliminating unnecessary time spent perusing books that are currently unavailable – a capability offered for library-based lending exclusively by 3M Cloud Library.
With its turnkey system of digital content, in-library hardware, and apps for borrowing and reading, the 3M Cloud Library seeks to revolutionise how library patrons discover, borrow and read eBooks. The system is compatible with PCs, iPads, NOOKs, and Androids, allowing patrons to read on their personal devices. It also works with 3M eReaders, which patrons can check out like any other lendable materials. Inside the library, 3M Discovery Stations help patrons browse the growing catalogue, currently standing at more than 200,000 titles from over 300 publishers, on electronic kiosks.
