The journal welcomes relevant fundamental research in physics, chemistry, biology, and geology, and also emerging applied research in ocean observation, environment protection, and resources utilization.

Manuscripts featuring cutting-edge science, innovative technology, and interdisciplinary studies within the journal’s scope are particularly welcome. Categories of manuscripts include Research Articles, Review Articles, Editorials, and News & Views.

Dr. Dake Chen of Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (Zhuhai) and Dr. Robert W. Howarth of Cornell University will serve as Editors-in-Chief. OLAR is currently open for submission and will publish under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).

New titles participating in the Science Partner Journal program will launch on a regular basis and participation in the program is kept to English-language publications. AAAS is actively seeking new partners across scientific disciplines. Organizations participating in the Science Partner Journal program will be editorially independent and responsible for the content published in each journal.
