The American Association of Medical Review Officers (AAMRO) has announced the availability of the ninth edition of the Medical Review Officer's Handbook. The handbook, published by AAMRO, is expected to benefit medical review officers (MROs), physicians, toxicologists, drug testing administrators and human resource executives involved in drug testing.
The expanded 9th edition seeks to serve as both an essential reference text and a practical guide to drug testing. It is claimed to present a concise integration of the science, technology, medicine, law, policy and cultural issues relevant to drug testing. The new edition covers the critical issues of prescription drug abuse, hair testing, oral fluid tests and federally mandated drug testing. Detailed profiles of drugs, metabolites and their interpretation is provided, along with alcohol testing, testing of prescription drugs, hallucinogens, stimulants, depressants, and federal and state-by-state laws.
Medical Review Officer's Handbook is authored by Theodore Shults, JD, MS, Chairman of AAMRO, with expert contributors. AAMRO, founded in 1991, is a medical society dedicated to establishing national standards and certification of medical practitioners and other professionals in the field of drug and alcohol testing.
