AAOS designates Dr. Peter S. Rose as Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of the AAOS -

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) has announced Dr. Peter S. Rose as the editor-in-chief designee of the Journal of the AAOS (JAAOS®). Professor of orthopaedics and division chair of orthopaedic oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., Dr. Rose will begin overseeing the publication from January 1, 2022. Dr. Rose will succeed Dr. William N. Levine, who served as the publication’s editor-in-chief for six years.

A native of Texas, Dr. Rose’s current practice focuses on tumors of the spine, chest wall, and extremities. He was previously the fellowship director for orthopaedic oncology for 11 years and headed up the resident basic science education curriculum for five years at Mayo Clinic.

Prior to his appointment as editor-in-chief designee, Dr. Rose was involved with JAAOS for nearly 10 years, currently serving as the deputy editor of the oncology section.

Of his plans for the journal as editor-in-chief, Dr. Rose plans to expand the digital presence of the journal, including digital access to the journal through an integration with the Orthopaedic Video Theater, which features high-quality surgical technique videos that the Academy continues to curate. In addition, a new deputy editor whose primary focus will be to increase online engagement through social media will soon be on boarding.
