ABI Research announces latest update to its Enterprise Mobility Market Data -

Market intelligence company ABI Research has released the latest update to its Enterprise Mobility Market Data. According to the company, mobile broadband revenues from the enterprise segment for cellular connectivity of laptops, netbooks, and media tablets will reach $36 billion worldwide. Boosting enterprise mobile broadband revenues will be connections for the high growth media tablet segment.

Currently enterprise penetration of tablets is low; however relative to other big-screen portable computers, tablet mobile broadband attach rates are high. In a recent survey data of US business customers, mobile broadband attach rates on media tablets were 33 percent higher than netbooks and twice as high as laptops.

According to Enterprise practice director Dan Shey, a key component of enterprise tablet data plan adoption will be pricing. However, workers in other segments whose work is facility-based, such as healthcare staff, have less need for a mobile broadband plan. Shey expects mobile operators to maintain pricing flexibility in order to address segments that intermittently need cellular access.

North America and the Asia-Pacific region will garner the greatest share of mobile broadband revenues from media tablets. An important driver for North America will be 4G networks; Asia-Pacific growth will be driven by a dynamic business market and mobile device-savvy culture.

ABI Research's "Enterprise Mobility Market Data" provides a global view of mobile services adoption and usage for the mobile business customer. Nine service categories are represented. These include real-time communications; messaging; information access; application downloads; business process solutions (Line of business applications); mobile broadband (data plans for netbooks, laptops, MIDs, tablets); mobile device management services; mobile cloud computing; and mobile data plans (for smartphones and handsets).

Additionally, a series of Enterprise Mobility Vertical Market databases segments mobile communications services by industry vertical, occupation and size of business. Separate editions are available for North America, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
