ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, has joined India’s One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative through a comprehensive read-and-publish agreement under the ACM Open program. The agreement provides 6,500 publicly funded higher education and research institutions across India with premium access to the ACM Digital Library and enables affiliated authors to publish unlimited Open Access articles in ACM journals, conference proceedings, and ICPS Proceedings without article processing charges.
This national-level agreement significantly expands access to computing and information technology research across India, granting researchers and students access to the ACM Digital Library’s full collection of over 800,000 articles and tools, including advanced discovery features and workflow support. Simultaneously, it eliminates cost barriers for Open Access publishing, extending the reach and visibility of Indian research within the global academic community.
Facilitated by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET), a government initiative, ONOS aims to democratize access to scholarly content across the country. Through this agreement, ACM deepens its engagement with Indian institutions and supports broader participation in global research dialogue.
The ACM Open model integrates reading and publishing into a unified framework that promotes Open Access and research equity. Articles published through this agreement become freely available worldwide upon release, encouraging broader collaboration and greater dissemination of Indian scholarship.
India represents a significant contributor to ACM’s publication ecosystem. This agreement under ONOS strengthens ACM’s commitment to Open Access and advances its goal of making all content freely accessible by the end of 2025. Since its introduction in 2020, more than 8,000 institutions globally have adopted the ACM Open license model.
