ACM launches new journal to advance AI security and privacy research -

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has launched a new peer-reviewed journal, ACM Transactions on AI Security and Privacy (TAISAP), to advance research on safeguarding AI systems and leveraging AI technologies for cybersecurity. The journal is part of ACM’s broader initiative to expand its publishing portfolio in artificial intelligence.

TAISAP will aim at addressing emerging technical and theoretical challenges in securing AI models and infrastructures. Topics covered include adversarial attacks on AI, technical vulnerabilities of AI, privacy concerns in AI model training and deployment, and the deployment of AI and machine learning in cybersecurity applications. The journal also welcomes applied research in AI-driven tools used in cybersecurity operations, such as threat intelligence, security operations centers, authentication, and vulnerability management.

Articles in TAISAP are expected to draw on a wide array of methods, including machine learning, deep learning, large language models (LLMs), and network science. Interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary submissions that explore these technologies for specific use cases in cybersecurity are strongly encouraged.

The journal invites theoretical contributions, new insights into threats and defenses affecting AI systems, and applied work that proposes innovative techniques or models to evaluate AI’s robustness and privacy protections. However, broader socio-technical themes like AI safety, governance, and dependabilities are considered beyond the scope of this publication.

To support wider dissemination and equity in research, TAISAP will publish all articles as open access, without publication fees, for its first three years (2026–2029). This aligns with ACM’s goal of making its entire suite of publications openly accessible by January 2026.

TAISAP will be led by Co-Editors-in-Chief Murat Kantarcioglu (Virginia Tech), Patrick McDaniel (University of Wisconsin–Madison), and Sagar Samtani (Indiana University Bloomington). An international team of 17 associate editors from the United States, Europe, and Asia will support editorial review and peer evaluation. The journal is expected to open for submissions soon.

ACM currently publishes more than 70 high-impact peer-reviewed journals in computing and information technology disciplines. With TAISAP, it reinforces its leadership in advancing both theoretical and applied computing research in critical emerging domains like AI security.
