ACM signs open access agreement with French consortium -

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world’s largest computing society, has entered into a transformative Open Access (OA) agreement with Couperin, a consortium of 30 French universities and research institutions. This significant "read and publish" agreement, part of the ACM OPEN program, marks one of the first of its kind in France and underscores the shared commitment between ACM and Couperin to advancing sustainable OA publishing in the field of computer science.

Under the terms of the agreement, Couperin member institutions will receive unlimited access to the ACM Digital Library, which houses a vast collection of computing research. In addition, all new research articles published by Couperin-affiliated authors will be made openly accessible in perpetuity within the ACM Digital Library. Authors will retain the copyright for their work and be able to choose from a range of rights options, ensuring flexibility and control over their published research.

This agreement represents a major step in ACM's mission to transition all of its content to Open Access by the end of 2025. The collaboration between ACM and Couperin reflects a growing global effort to democratize access to scientific knowledge. Since its inception in January 2020, the ACM OPEN license model has attracted over 1,540 institutions worldwide.

The inclusion of some of Europe's most prestigious universities and research centers in the ACM-Couperin agreement further strengthens ACM's position as a leader in Open Access publishing and promotes the global sharing of computer science research.
