ACS and Case Western Reserve University announce new open access agreement -

Authors affiliated with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) are now able to publish open access journal articles in American Chemical Society (ACS) hybrid journals at no cost, with no yearly limits. The agreement was negotiated through OhioLINK and applies to articles accepted for publication from now through Dec. 31 in any ACS hybrid journal. The announcement also referenced an ACS journal information summary for librarians.

According to the details provided, corresponding authors must be affiliated with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) at the time of acceptance to receive the open access publication fee waiver. Eligibility also requires publication of an original research article or a review article in an eligible journal. Once accepted, authors will automatically be offered the open access publishing option by ACS and will be able to publish under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY 4.0) license.

The agreement also provides an opt-out option for authors whose articles are accepted in an eligible ACS journal. If the corresponding author does not choose open access publishing, the article will be published under a subscription model behind a paywall, and copyright will transfer to ACS.
