ACS launches new journal on Applied Catalysis -

The American Chemical Society (ACS) Publications Division has announced the launch of ACS Applied Catalysis, a peer‑reviewed journal dedicated to advancing catalyst development and implementation across the chemical sciences, engineering, technology, and related fields. The journal will begin accepting submissions in June 2026 and publish its first issue in early 2027.

Led by founding Editor‑in‑Chief Professor Eranda Nikolla of the University of Michigan‑Ann Arbor, the journal will publish original research articles, letters, reviews, perspectives, viewpoints, and tutorials. Its scope includes studies that provide fundamental insights into catalytic phenomena with potential for scalable impact, supported by rigorous experimentation, advanced characterization, and computational approaches.

Nikolla, internationally recognized for her research on catalytic and electrocatalytic phenomena in complex structures such as mixed metal oxides, integrates controlled synthesis, advanced characterization, kinetic measurements, and quantum chemical calculations to uncover mechanisms governing surface reactions and improve catalyst performance. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology, where she focused on designing and characterizing porous materials and functionalized surfaces for selective catalytic transformations.
