The American Chemical Society (ACS) Board of Directors has announced that Dr. Joan F. Brennecke of the University of Notre Dame has been appointed the new editor of the Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data. She assumes the editorship from Dr. Kenneth Marsh. Over the past 20 years, Marsh's leadership has bolstered the ACS journal's position as the leading publication in the chemical and engineering data community.
Brennecke's research is focused on experimental aspects of thermodynamics, separations, supercritical fluids, ionic liquids, and improvements in energy efficiency and carbon dioxide capture. Her research group has developed, synthesised, and tested ionic liquids for removal of carbon dioxide from flue gas. She holds three patents and has authored or co-authored more than 100 research articles.
The Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data is a monthly publication of the American Chemical Society. It reports on experimental, evaluated and predicted data on the physical, thermodynamic, and transport properties of well-defined materials including complex mixtures of known compositions and systems of environmental and biochemical interest.
