Advanced Materials Editor Peter Gregory awarded two Chinese professorships -

Publisher John Wiley and Sons, Inc., has announced that Professor Peter Gregory, Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Materials and Wiley Vice President & Publishing Director, has been awarded two honorary professorships, one by Nanjing University of Technology and one by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Founded in 1896 and 1902 respectively, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Nanjing University of Technology are among the oldest and most prestigious universities in China.

On September 9, Professor Gregory's award ceremony at SJTU was followed by a full-day scientific symposium in Shanghai at which leading researchers presented their latest research results. The award ceremony at Nanjing University of Technology followed on September 16, as part of a scientific symposium.

Professor Gregory began his work with Wiley in 1989 when he finished his post-doctoral research at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany and became editor of Advanced Materials; a role he would hold for 13 years.

After a five year period as the Managing Director of Publishing at the Royal Society of Chemistry, Professor Gregory returned to Wiley in 2007 to serve as the Vice President and Publishing Director of Wiley's global materials and physics programs, and again as Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Materials.

Under his guidance Advanced Materials has achieved recognition as a global thought leader and a supporter of international and interdisciplinary research; reflected by a global editorial board, authorship, and readership, and has become one of the highest impact journals across chemistry, physics, materials, and engineering.
