AIP Publishing has appointed Yi Cao, Professor at Nanjing University, as the new Editor-in-Chief of Biophysics Reviews, a journal that publishes scholarship across biophysics, biomaterials, and related interdisciplinary fields. Cao is a full professor in the Institute of Biomedical Physics at Nanjing University, where his research group studies biomaterials, soft matter mechanics, mechanobiology, and single-molecule biophysics.
Cao’s work integrates single-molecule force spectroscopy, polymer chemistry, and synthetic biology to examine natural biomaterials and develop high-performance synthetic materials. He has authored more than 190 publications, with over 13,000 citations and an h-index of 65, and has received honors including the IUPAP C6 Young Scientist Award and the Distinguished Young Scholars Award from the National Science Foundation of China. His editorial experience includes leadership roles with Materials Research Express and service on several editorial advisory boards.
The journal’s incoming Editor-in-Chief aims to strengthen commissioning of high-impact reviews, broaden the global author base, and expand engagement with early-career researchers, particularly across rapidly growing biophysics communities in Asia. AIP Publishing leadership notes Cao’s scientific expertise and vision for the journal’s next phase.
