AIP Publishing has announced that the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) has signed an agreement to participate in AIP Fusion, AIP Publishing’s services-based reading and publishing model. The National Autonomous University of Mexico is the first institutional consortia globally to join AIP Fusion.
Under the agreement, researchers at 18 National Autonomous University of Mexico campuses will receive unlimited access to AIP Publishing and partner journals, along with unlimited open access publishing opportunities in all titles without article processing charges (APCs). The agreement covers a three-year period from 2026 to 2028 and was established with support from KGL Accucoms.
The agreement aligns with AIP Publishing’s transition toward a services-based publishing model and supports open science through expanded access and publishing options beyond Europe and North America.
AIP Fusion was launched as a pilot in 2025. The model provides institutions with comprehensive access to AIP Publishing’s publishing and content services for a single annual fee. Pricing is based on publishing and usage data, and the model was developed in collaboration with a library and consortia consultation group.
The participation of the National Autonomous University of Mexico extends the application of AIP Fusion to Latin America and supports broader engagement in global scientific publishing and access.
