AIP Publishing has entered into a new three-year AIP Fusion agreement with the Irish Research eLibrary (IReL), a nationally funded consortium that provides access to licensed electronic resources, open access publishing agreements, and open science infrastructure for Irish research institutions.
The agreement includes eight participating institutions in Ireland and expands access to AIP Publishing’s portfolio of physical sciences research. It also supports a transparent and sustainable transition toward open access publishing across scholarly publications.
Under the terms of the agreement, researchers affiliated with participating IReL institutions will have access to streamlined publishing workflows and expanded opportunities to publish open access across AIP Publishing journals and partner titles through the AIP Fusion model. The approach combines reading access with publishing rights, aiming to reduce administrative complexity for authors while supporting open research dissemination.
The partnership aligns with IReL’s mission to provide inclusive and sustainable access to scholarly communications in support of Irish research. By participating in the AIP Fusion model, IReL members gain access to established publication venues while enabling affiliated authors to publish research openly under transparent cost and licensing frameworks.
AIP Fusion agreements form part of AIP Publishing’s broader strategy to collaborate with institutions and consortia globally to expand access to scholarly content, reduce barriers for researchers, and accelerate the transition to open science. The model is designed to support equity, cost control, and scalability as open access adoption continues to evolve.
