ALCTS Publishing releases first guide in new monographs series -

ALCTS Publishing has announced the release of the first title in its new Sudden Position Guide series. Edited by Jeremy Myntti, the Sudden Position Guide to Cataloging and Metadata is geared toward librarians who have been given cataloging and metadata responsibilities without formal training, those who have experience in cataloging one specific type of resource but now have to catalog unfamiliar items, and those new to library cataloging.

Throughout this guide, authors share a variety of resources and tools and provide a solid starting point for learning the principles and standards of resource description for cataloging and metadata, making the Sudden Position Guide to Cataloging and Metadata a helpful resource for anyone who is in the sudden position of cataloging and managing metadata.

Established by the ALCTS Monographs Editorial Board, the Sudden Position Guide series is designed to provide the reader with essential knowledge, tools of the trade and best practices in a concise, easy-to-read and reference narrative format. The guides are specifically meant to aid anyone who is taking on a new position or added technical services responsibility. The Sudden Position Guide to Cataloging and Metadata is the first guide in this series, and is available in print and as a PDF in the ALA Store.
