STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media, Germany, has announced the appointment of Dr. Alexander Grossman as Managing Director of Springer-Verlag GmbH in Vienna, effective May 1, 2008. Springer-Verlag GmbH in Vienna groups Springer's scientific publishing activities in Austria.
Prior to this, Dr. Grossman served as Publishing Director Global Physics at Wiley-Blackwell. While at Wiley, he held a number of key management positions. In May 2001, he was named head of the Wiley-VCH office in Berlin, followed by Business Development Director at Wiley International and Editorial Director for Physics, Material Sciences and Mathematics at Wiley-VCH. Since 2003, he has been member of the management team at Wiley-VCH.
Dr. Grossman succeeds Dr. Sven Fund, who left Springer at the end of March.
