Publisher and software developer The Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress), US, has announced the appointment of Alison Denby as Publisher. She will report to Gordon Tibbitts, CEO of bepress, and will be based at bepress headquarters in California.
Denby brings close to 20 years of journals editorial and sales experience in the publishing industry to bepress. Before joining bepress, she held senior positions at John Wiley & Sons and Blackwell Publishing, where she worked closely with academic societies and journal editorial teams. In her new position, Denby will be responsible for the bepress journals publishing programme, which includes 42 owned and scholarly society journals.
Founded by academics in 1999, The Berkeley Electronic Press is both a publisher of peer-reviewed e-journals and a software developer, having created a variety of tools to improve scholarly communication via innovative and effective means of content production and dissemination. The bepress Institutional Repository platform currently powers the eScholarship Repository of the University of California system as well as over ninety other universities, societies, and organisations using Digital Commons.
