Publishing services provider Allen Press, Inc., US, has announced that it will present its annual Emerging Trends in Scholarly Publishing Seminar at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, DC on April 8, 2010. This year's seminar is titled ‘Scholarly Publishing: Boldly Going Where No Journal Has Gone Before.’
Speakers include leaders in the field of scientific research, scholarly and electronic publishing, and library science. They will discuss changing standards and content distribution channels, the Google Book Settlement and the Open Access Compact. Kent Anderson, CEO/Publisher of the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, will be the keynote speaker for the event. He will share his vision of how influences such as social networking, open access, and measuring the value of content will change scholarly publishing during the keynote address, ‘Hitchhiker's Guide to scholarly Publishing’. Formerly the publishing director at the New England Journal of Medicine, Anderson has been in healthcare publishing for 20 years and has worked as a writer, editor, designer, production manager, copy editor, managing editor and publisher.
