The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) has called for applications for the 2011 Awards for publishing innovation and best new journal.
The ALPSP award for publishing innovation recognises a significantly innovative approach to any aspect of publication. The judges will consider the originality and innovative qualities of each application, together with its utility, benefit to its community and long term development prospects. Applications should, therefore, provide information about these aspects together with any other information which the one believes makes the project or publication truly innovative.
The ALPSP award for best new journal is open to any peer-reviewed journal launched in the last 1-3 years. The journal must have published its first volume or at least 3 issues (journals without volume numbers or issues should have been published for a least a year at the time of the submission). The journal may be print, online or both but must include a substantial number of peer reviewed articles. The judges will consider four main aspects of the journal and its launch - market research, editorial strategy, marketing and commercial success.
The judges will consider all the applications and then draw up a shortlist for each award. Representatives of the shortlisted applications will be invited to give a 15-minute presentation to the judges in London on July 7, 2011. The winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner on September 15, 2011, at the ALPSP International Conference.
Closing date for receipt of applications for both awards is June 13, 2011.
