ALPSP, the distinguished international trade association, has launched a series of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) that cater to its members and the broader scholarly publishing community. This innovative initiative is geared towards stimulating engagement and knowledge exchange within distinct scholarly communities that share common interests.
Under the leadership of multiple facilitators, each Special Interest Group will convene virtually at regular intervals throughout the year. These groups will be dedicated to addressing pertinent issues within the scholarly publishing domain, proposing viable solutions, and cultivating a platform for networking where real-world experiences and case studies can be shared and explored.
The recently launched SIGs that are now open for participation include: Open Peer Review; Library Publishing; Open Access Books (exclusive to ALPSP members); Marketing Connected (general); and Marketing Maestros (senior level).
The initiative aims to address a growing need for cross-functional engagement, especially in light of evolving industry dynamics. These Special Interest Groups will not only provide a platform for dialogue and collaboration but also facilitate problem-solving within the scholarly publishing landscape.
Additional SIGs are currently in the process of formation and will be unveiled in due course. Comprehensive information regarding each group's focus, how to join, and the process of proposing new SIGs can be found on the ALPSP website.
ALPSP's membership extends to the entire organization, ensuring that all employees can avail of the benefits. These advantages encompass access to the latest news, research insights, and expert guidance, preferential rates for conferences and training, free member-exclusive webinars, networking opportunities, access to the jobs board, participation in the mentorship program, and engagement in ALPSP committees and initiatives. The full events and training schedule for 2023 is available online, offering a diverse array of enriching experiences.
ALPSP's introduction of Special Interest Groups reaffirms its commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the scholarly publishing community. As the landscape evolves, ALPSP stands at the forefront of empowering industry professionals through strategic initiatives.
