The Association of Learning Technology (ALT) has organised a free workshop where the results of the TILE (Towards Implementation of Library 2.0 and the E-Framework) project will be presented and discussed. The event, 'Sitting on a gold mine' - improving provision and services for learners by aggregating and using 'learner behaviour data', will be hosted at JISC's London office on December 12, 2008.
The JISC TILE project has been investigating existing and potential Web 2.0 services linked to UK HE libraries. Detailed work in the areas of 'creating context' and 'enabling contribution' has suggested opportunities for cross-institution aggregation of learner behaviour data, potentially available from not only library but also learning and repository systems. This workshop will review the vision and service models proposed by TILE, seeking to achieve a shared understanding of the challenges, the desirable opportunities and any potential early developments.
The ALT is a professional and scholarly association which brings together all those with an interest in the use of learning technology. The Association aims to facilitate collaboration between practitioners, researchers, and policy makers; represent and support our members, and provide services for them; and spread good practice in the use of learning technology.
