Alternative metrics provider Altmetric LLP has announced the addition of enhanced Mendeley reader demographics data. This data is collated and displayed on the Altmetric details pages, where users can explore all of the original mentions of each article or other research output and see a breakdown of the geographical, disciplinary and professional status of users storing the article in their Mendeley library.
Altmetric collate mentions of academic articles, datasets and other scholarly outputs from a curated list of online sources including policy documents, news outlets, post-publication peer-review forums, social media sites, and online reference managers.
Altmetric is the only altmetrics provider to display such detailed information about the dissemination of an article amongst online reference manager readers, and users will also be able to click through from the Altmetric details page to the article record on the Mendeley site.
The enhanced data will be available on the 'demographics' tab of Altmetric details pages.
