AMA launches micro-grant program to support physician-led community health projects -

The American Medical Association (AMA) has launched the Community Health Impact Lab Micro Grants Program, a national effort to support physician-led initiatives that address health challenges in underserved communities. The program will award $50,000 grants to 20 physician-led projects that focus on issues such as food insecurity, maternal health, caregiving support, and other local priorities identified by U.S.-based physicians.

The initiative aims to advance community-level improvements that demonstrate measurable outcomes within a 12-month period. Proposals must address a clearly defined community health challenge, outline feasible implementation plans, and show potential to be adapted for use in other regions. The program seeks to elevate physician-driven solutions and identify models that can scale to strengthen patient care nationwide.

Applications open November 13, 2025, with submissions due by March 1, 2026. Grant recipients will be announced by April 30, 2026, followed by project launches. Physicians can review eligibility criteria and submit applications through the AMA Community Health Impact Lab Micro Grants Program webpage.
