The American Medical Association (AMA) has named Elizabeth A. (Betsy) Jones as Senior Vice President, Periodic Publications. In her new role, Jones will serve as Publisher of JAMA/Archives, American Medical News, the Journal of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness and other AMA periodic publications.
Jones has been serving as interim publisher of JAMA/Archives since November 2009. Over the past six months, she has worked closely with JAMA Editor in Chief, Dr. Catherine DeAngelis, and AMA’s editorial and publishing teams to reevaluate strategic and operational plans in response to an evolving publishing environment. Prior to joining the AMA, Jones served as Executive Vice President and General Manager, Wolters Kluwer Health/LWW Journals in Philadelphia.
In her new capacity Jones will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans aimed at enhancing the overall business operations, revenue, profitability and growth of JAMA/Archives, American Medical News and the Journal of Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness.
