American Association of School Librarians opens registration for national conference virtual component -

The American Association of School Librarians (AASL), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), has announced that registration is now open for the AASL’s virtual component to its national conference. The AASL11 Virtual Conference will offer national conference attendees and those following the activity from afar the chance to virtually connect to the AASL 15th National Conference and Exhibition, scheduled to be held from October 27-30 in Minneapolis.

The AASL11 virtual conference component will feature many of the elements of national conference including live streaming of the opening general session with Nicholas Carr and the closing general session with Mimi Ito; seven live streamed concurrent sessions and interaction with the virtual audience through a unique Twitter hashtag; forty-two slidecast sessions; and access to session materials uploaded by presenters.

For those school librarians with reduced support for professional development, the AASL11 Virtual Conference is a way to leverage a small investment into large learning opportunities. Registration pricing includes options for individuals, groups and districts. Virtual Conference is included for onsite attendees with full registration.

The AASL 15th National Conference and Exhibition, ‘Turning the Page,’ claims to be the only national conference dedicated solely to the needs of school librarians and their roles as educational leaders. The AASL National Conference will feature preconferences, numerous concurrent sessions, more than 200 exhibiting companies, educational and school tours, a storytelling festival and special appearances by award-winning authors. The deadline for discounted advanced registration is September 29.
