Non-profit electronic archiving service provider Portico, US, has announced an agreement with the American Astronomical Society (AAS) to preserve its four online journals. With the inclusion of the AAS journals, more than 7,400 titles have now been entrusted to the Portico archive.
Through this agreement with Portico, the Society ensures that its online journal collection will be preserved and available for future practitioners, scholars, researchers and students. The AAS has also agreed to make an annual financial contribution to Portico to help support the ongoing costs of the archive.
Established in 1899, the AAS is the major organisation of professional astronomers in North America with an objective to promote the advancement of astronomy and closely related branches of science.
