American Chemical Society introduces unified brand identity during 150th anniversary -

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has introduced an evolved brand identity that reflects the organization’s growth, global reach, and vision for advancing science. The launch coincides with ACS’ 150th anniversary and is intended to strengthen how the organization delivers on its mission to expand scientific knowledge, support a worldwide community, and uphold scientific integrity.

ACS Chief Executive Officer Albert G. Horvath noted that for 150 years the organization has connected people, ideas, and discoveries to advance science. He explained that the updated brand represents both ACS’ current role and its future direction, enhancing its ability to serve the global scientific community for generations to come.

The organization observed that many audiences recognize ACS through its individual programs without fully appreciating the breadth of its offerings. ACS provides scholarly publishing, scientific information, professional development, advocacy, and events. The unified brand brings these elements together, making it easier for members and stakeholders to access resources and communities across the society.

The brand evolution was informed by two years of engagement with ACS members, customers, employees, and partners through research, workshops, listening sessions, and feedback opportunities. The new identity includes an updated logo, color palette, and design system inspired by the continuous nature of scientific progress, symbolizing how discoveries build upon one another and how disciplines connect to create future innovations.

While the visual identity has changed, ACS emphasized that its mission, vision, strategic goals, and core values remain the same. The organization invited the public to experience the new brand at acs.org and during ACS Fall 2026 in Chicago, scheduled for August 22–27.
