American Chemical Society applauds the move by Joe Biden-Kamala Harris White House science team to elevate the role of the director of the OSTP -

The American Chemical Society (ACS) applauds and welcomes the announcement last week of the incoming administration’s science team. ACS supports the move by President-elect Joe Biden to elevate the role of the director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), who also serves as the presidential science advisor, to a Cabinet-level position for the first time in history.

ACS also notice that Dr. Francis Collins will continue to lead the National Institutes of Health (NIH). ACS looks forward to working with Lander, Collins and the newly announced science team, as well as the Biden-Harris administration and the 117th Congress, to continue to advocate for the chemistry enterprise on key policy priorities that respond to and support recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure a sustainable and diverse chemistry enterprise. More information about ACS’ public policy agenda can be found at https://www.acs.org/content/acs/en/policy/washington-science/2021-public-comments/2021-acs-comments/2021-acs-public-policy-agenda.html.
