The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has appointed Dr. Dinesh Kalra as the Editor-in-Chief of JACC: Advances, an open-access, peer-reviewed journal focused on cardiovascular medicine. Kalra will lead the journal with a mandate to broaden its scientific scope, expand its global reach, and maintain the editorial standards associated with the JACC family of journals.

JACC: Advances publishes original research, reviews, and expert perspectives across all areas of cardiovascular medicine, including clinical and experimental studies, epidemiology, and health policy research with direct clinical relevance. The journal also covers emerging fields aimed at advancing cardiovascular health worldwide.

As Editor-in-Chief, Kalra plans to expand the journal’s focus to include areas such as cardiometabolic disease, precision medicine, population and implementation science, wearable technologies, data science, artificial intelligence, and digital health. His editorial priorities also include strengthening constructive peer review, supporting early-career investigators, and increasing engagement with international authors.

Kalra also aims to enhance the journal’s digital presence and adopt new publishing technologies to improve efficiency, transparency, and the overall author experience in response to the evolving landscape of scientific publishing.

Kalra currently serves as chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and professor of medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He also holds leadership roles within UofL Health and serves in several governance and quality assurance capacities related to cardiovascular services.

An internationally recognized expert in cardiac imaging and preventive cardiology, Kalra is board-certified in multiple subspecialties and actively participates in several professional societies.
