The American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) has launched a new digital publication called CHEST Advocates, which aims to highlight emerging issues related to advocacy within healthcare from diverse perspectives. The publication features firsthand insights from clinicians advocating for improved patient care, organizations fighting for better outcomes for their communities, and patients impacted by health issues. CHEST Advocates recognizes that policy alone is not enough to create change, and that action is required to improve patient care.
The first issue of CHEST Advocates includes an in-depth look into how clinicians are improving care access for patients with long COVID in rural areas, a firsthand account of a patient’s experience with long COVID, the story of how a physician used art and advocacy to heal after the first surges of the COVID-19 pandemic, and a deeper dive into the effects of the pandemic on Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.
