American Heart Association extends 'Circulation' series with new journal -

The American Heart Association has announced the publication of a new title, Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology. The title is the first of a planned extension of the association's weekly journal, Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association. Under the extension plan, six new journals dedicated to presenting the most important papers in key subspecialty areas of cardiology will be released, published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health.

Dr. Bill Stevenson, Director of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology programme at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, will serve as Editor of Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology. The new bimonthly journal will present critical new research on topics such as devices for arrhythmia management, catheter ablation, the pathophysiology of the arrhythmia substrate and novel biologic therapies. Commentaries and reviews on topics of special interest, editorials and opinion pieces, and other special features will provide a worldwide forum for all professionals in the field.

The other proposed titles under the Circulation umbrella include: Circulation: Heart Failure; Circulation: Cardiovascular Genetics; Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging; Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes; and Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions.

Each issue will be available in both print and online formats. The journal website, http://circep.ahajournals.org, will also present 'Publish Ahead of Print' articles and other online features. The first issue of each of the six new journals will be available to the public for free as sample issues.
