The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) has launched Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics™ (FAO), an open access journal dedicated to the orthopaedic care and treatment of patients with foot and ankle conditions. FAO joins the Society's flagship journal Foot & Ankle International® (FAI). Both are published by SAGE Publishing
.
FAO will focus on foot and ankle trauma, sports-related conditions, reconstructive techniques, and how new technology can address these issues. Under the direction of Editor-in-Chief L. Daniel Latt, the journal is designed to be a resource for orthopaedic surgeons, fellows and residents as well as allied health providers.
FAO content will include peer-reviewed original and clinical research articles, meta-analyses, systematic and topical reviews, case reviews, hot topics, research designs and technique tips. The manuscript site is now open, and there is no fee to submit. If a manuscript is accepted for publication after peer review, a one-time article processing charge is required. This charge covers the cost of publication and ensures that the article will be freely available online in perpetuity under a Creative Commons license.
