American Physiological Society adopts a format-neutral submission policy for new manuscripts -

The journals of the American Physiological Society (APS) have adopted a format-neutral submission policy (FlexSubmit) for new manuscripts submitted after July 31, 2019. With the change, initial submissions may now be uploaded in any format to streamline the process for authors.

FlexSubmit removes the need for technical adherence to the APS publishing style in the early stages of the submission process. Manuscripts are first considered for their scientific merit and other required information. The addition of this policy underscores the commitment of APS and its family of journals to offer quick decisions and publication and provide a home for important physiology research.

Now available across the portfolio of APS published journals, FlexSubmit was piloted in APS’ Journal of Neurophysiology (JNP) in late 2018.
