The American Psychological Association has appointed David Nygren as senior director, marketing and branding, a new position responsible for leading marketing, community engagement and business development for APA Publishing. In this post, Nygren will oversee marketing and branding initiatives for APA's premier publishing programs, including PsycINFO, APA Style CENTRAL and Magination Press.
Built on community, trust and excellence, APA Publishing's marketing and branding team helps to deliver products backed by psychological research that enhance APA's position and influence in the education, public and clinical domains. The senior director oversees a team of 19 and is charged with leading business development, social media and community engagement for the program.
Nygren spent the last 16 years with John Wiley & Sons Inc. During his tenure as vice president of Wiley's Research Insights, he was responsible for understanding customer needs and market conditions to identify growth opportunities and guide investment decisions. He also led research activities that drove decision-making for strategy, policies and acquisitions, and helped to transition the organisation to data-driven decision-making. Earlier in his career, Nygren served in New York-based positions for U.S. News & World Report and Thomas Financial Media.
