American Psychological Association set to publish new journal - Psychology of Violence -

The American Psychological Association (APA) has announced that it will begin publishing the journal, Psychology of Violence, beginning in spring 2011. The new journal is now soliciting submissions of research-based articles. The journal will be edited by Dr. Sherry L. Hamby, Research Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Sewanee, the University of the South.

A quarterly publication, Psychology of Violence will be a multidisciplinary research journal devoted to violence and extreme aggression, including identifying the causes of violence from a psychological framework, finding ways to prevent or reduce violence, and developing practical interventions and treatments. It is now recognised that virtually all forms of violence and aggression are interconnected and require cross-cutting work that incorporates research from psychology, public health, neuroscience, sociology, medicine, and other related behavioral and social sciences. This journal will seek to promote communication among researchers and providers who study all types of violence and its diverse correlates.

APA will provide publishing services for the print journal and electronic access through its full-text journal articles database, PsycARTICLES. Electronic access will include all articles, beginning with Volume 1, Issue 1, published in the journal. Psychology of Violence will be indexed in PsycINFO.
