Andrea Remuzzi appointed new Editor-in-Chief of IJAO -

Professor Andrea Remuzzi, of the Mario Negri Institute in Bergamo, Italy, has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of The International Journal of Artificial Organs (IJAO), the official journal of the European Society for Artificial Organs (ESAO) and a leading title in the area of bioengineering, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

Prof. Remuzzi graduated and specialized in Biomedical Engineering at the Politecnico of Milan in 1979 and spent time at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and at the Brigham and Womens' Hospital, before returning to Italy to pursue his scientific interests. Since 2000 he is Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Mario Negri Institute. In 2007 he also joined the University of Bergamo as Professor of Bioengineering.

He has authored more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals spanning areas such as biomedical transport phenomena in artificial organs and living systems, vascular tissue and whole kidney tissue engineering, fluid dynamics of hemodialysis vascular access, immunoisolation of pancreatic islets for the development of a bioartificial pancreas, among others.

IJAO is a monthly peer-reviewed journal, and a proprietary title published since 1977 by Wichtig International.
