Annual Reviews appoints Dr. Richard Gallagher as President and Editor-In-Chief -

Annual Reviews, the non-profit publisher that synthesises critical research literature, has appointed Dr. Richard Gallagher as President and Editor-In-Chief, effective May 1, 2015. He succeeds Samuel Gubins, who will be retiring after 20 years of service and will remain with Annual Reviews to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

The appointment of Dr. Gallagher, a seasoned scientific editor and successful publisher and innovator, signals a continued priority of publishing excellence, and reflects the organisation's ongoing commitment to facilitating worldwide scholarly progress.

Dr. Gallagher joins Annual Reviews with more than 26 years of experience in scientific publishing. In his most recent role as Co-founder and Editorial Director of Texere Publishing, he developed print, web, tablet, and smart phone products for the scientific, technical, and medical markets. Prior to that, he launched start-up Hopeful Monster, which provided custom services to the life sciences sector, including production of magazines for scientific organizations and editorial services for academic institutes. Previous roles include Editor of The Scientist, where his successful repositioning of the magazine led to a significant rise in popularity, and Publisher at Nature, where key projects included a novel multichannel approach to publishing the draft human genome sequence.
