APA and APA Division 15 launch new journal focused on Educational Psychology -

The American Psychological Association (APA) has announced a new publishing partnership with APA Division 15 (Educational Psychology) to launch a new journal titled Educational Psychology for Policy and Practice (EPPP). Set to begin accepting submissions in January 2025, the inaugural volume of EPPP is scheduled for publication in 2026.

EPPP will mark APA’s 90th peer-reviewed journal, expanding its already diverse portfolio that encompasses various disciplines within psychology. This new journal will complement existing educational psychology titles, including the Journal of Educational Psychology, APA Division 16’s School Psychology, and the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, which is published on behalf of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education.

The focus of Educational Psychology for Policy and Practice will be on peer-reviewed scholarship that leverages educational psychology research to address issues and phenomena that are directly relevant to educational policy and practice. The journal aims to serve a broad audience, including policymakers, administrators, educational practitioners, and the general public, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of how educational psychology can inform and enhance educational outcomes.

This initiative represents the Division's second journal, following the established Educational Psychologist, and underscores the growing importance of applying educational psychology science to real-world challenges within the education sector.

With the launch of EPPP, APA and Division 15 are poised to contribute significantly to the discourse surrounding educational policy and practice, providing a vital platform for researchers and practitioners to share their findings and insights. As the education landscape continues to evolve, the new journal will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between research and practical application in educational settings.
