The American Psychological Association has announced that PsycTESTS, its ground breaking database of psychology tests and measures, recently surpassed 20,000 test records. PsycTESTS has experienced tremendous growth since its launch in 2011. Over the years, the database has become a go-to resource for psychology students, faculty and professionals around the world seeking tests and measures for their research.
APA's collaboration with the psychology community in creating PsycTESTS has not only aided in the creation of a comprehensive hub for the collection and discovery of psychological test instruments, but also exposed and connected those working in similar fields of study, further enhancing their ability to collaborate in their work.
The recently indexed 20,000th test record was Male Role Norms Inventory--Short Form (MRNI-SF), 2013.
The tests found in PsycTESTS are indexed from a number of different resources. Tests are submitted directly to APA from the test authors themselves, they have been gathered from the Archives of the History of American Psychology (AHAP), and many are extracted from the journal literature, as the Male Role Norms Inventory--Short Form was. The expansive and rapidly growing collection of tests in PsycTESTS includes: tests originally developed for research that were not made commercially available; multilingual test instruments; test records of select commercially available tests with links to the test publisher, and more. Nearly three-fourths of the records in PsycTESTS currently offer full-text test items that are immediately available for download. Each record also benefits from APA's expert indexing, enabling users to quickly locate the most relevant tests for their research. In addition, PsycTESTS identifies critical development articles for every test, saving users time by presenting the necessary background information within each record. Also included is a summary, the development history, purpose, reliability and validity data (when available), test format, and a citation of the peer-reviewed source document.
PsycTESTS is a one-of-a-kind repository for thousands of useful tests and measures, featuring instruments that are relevant to psychology and related fields, such as psychiatry, education, medicine, business, social work, and more. The database is available for subscription on APA PsycNET, EBSCOhost, Ovid SP, and ProQuest.
