The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has called for applications and nominations for participation in the 2011-2012 class of the Research Library Leadership Fellows (RLLF) Program. The RLLF Program is an executive leadership programme that offers an opportunity for development of future senior-level leaders in large research libraries.
This is the fourth iteration of the RLLF since its inception in 2004. To date, the programme has involved almost 30 research libraries sponsoring 60 key staff in their development as an emerging cadre of ARL senior leaders.
The 2011-2012 RLLF Program is jointly sponsored and designed by directors of University of British Columbia Library, University of Colorado at Boulder Libraries, Dartmouth College Library, University of Illinois at Chicago Library, University of Miami Libraries, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Libraries and Northwestern University Library. These sponsor libraries will guide the design and be directly involved in offering the core experience of the programme: three five-day institutes, a series of site visits to sponsor libraries, and mentoring opportunities. In addition, the fellows will be invited to participate in ARL membership meetings, CNI membership meetings, a series of webinars on key issues, and a number of optional events over the 18-month duration of the programme.
The sponsor libraries will provide a core group of 12 fellows to participate in the programme. To complete the cohort, staff from other ARL member libraries may apply for the remaining slots. For the first time, applications will be accepted from non-ARL member institutions for two of the appointments to the programme if the applicants meet established criteria. The 11 additional fellows will be selected by a committee of the RLLF sponsoring directors.
The application deadline is December 1, 2010. Fellows will be selected by the end of the year.
