ARL President Wendy Lougee, university librarian at University of Minnesota, will convene the 163rd ARL Membership Meeting in Arlington, Virginia, on the afternoon of October 9. Several programmes that build on recent discussions about strategic thinking and the future framework for ARL are in development. The meeting will adjourn on October 10, just before the start of the ARL Fall Forum on 'Mobilizing the Research Enterprise.'
The Membership Meeting will be held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia. ARL member representatives are also requested to complete the Attendance Questionnaire online by indicating the activities they plan to attend. The deadline for completion is September 20, 2013.
ARL is a non-profit organisation of 125 research libraries in the US and Canada. Its mission is to influence the changing environment of scholarly communication and the public policies that affect research libraries and the diverse communities they serve. ARL pursues this mission by advancing the goals of its member research libraries, providing leadership in public and information policy to the scholarly and higher education communities, fostering the exchange of ideas and expertise, facilitating the emergence of new roles for research libraries, and shaping a future environment that leverages its interests with those of allied organisations.
