The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has released the 2011–2012 ARL Statistics dataset through ARL Statistics Analytics, a subscription-based service for non-member libraries, vendors, commercial parties, and others interested in accessing the final, verified ARL Statistics data through an interactive interface.
ARL Statistics is a series of annual data-collection activities that describe the collections, expenditures, staffing, and service activities for the member libraries of the Association of Research Libraries. ARL member institutions enjoy free access to the analytics as a benefit of membership.
ARL Statistics Analytics (formerly called ARL Statistics Interactive Analytics) allows subscribers to review the library data collected by ARLVarious expenditure types, single institution; generate rankings of ARL institutions by selected criteria; create graphs from the data; generate summary statistics for all ARL libraries; download the data by year in spreadsheet format; and review library expenditures data as well as the level of investment in the library from the parent institution.
The ARL Statistics data, going back to 1908, can be used to chart trends, support strategic planning and advocacy efforts, facilitate peer-group benchmarking, and support budget justification.
