ARTstor collections now searchable via EBSCO Discovery Service -

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO), US, has announced that ARTstor Digital Library will be searchable via EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), allowing mutual customers to use EDS to explore even more of a library's collection. End users will now be able to search ARTstor Digital Library collections - over one million images - alongside their library's entire print and electronic collection.

The ARTstor Digital Library serves as a curated, aggregated, and reliable online image resource that supports non-commercial educational use of images for research, teaching, and learning. The resource comprises hundreds of collections from museums, photo archives, photographers, scholars, artists, artists' estates, and libraries. At present, ARTstor serves more than 1,300 institutions in 42 countries.

As an innovative teaching and learning online workspace, ARTstor Digital Library provides more than one million images in the arts, architecture, humanities, and sciences. The ARTstor Digital Library also includes a suite of software tools for searching, organising, and presenting images for research and pedagogical purposes. Educators, scholars, curators, librarians, and students can teach and study with a broad range of image collections for a variety of disciplines.

ARTstor joins a long list of publishers and other content partners who are taking part in EDS to bring more visibility to their content. These include British Library, Baker & Taylor, NewsBank, Readex, LexisNexis, Alexander Street Press, Oxford University Press, American Psychological Association, ABC-CLIO, ingentaconnect, Government Printing Office, ECONIS, Mergent Inc., arXiv, Credo Reference, IGI Global, World Book, Accessible Archives and the Manuscriptorium. In addition, Web of Science and H.W. Wilson provide access for mutual customers.

EBSCO Discovery Service creates a unified, customised index of an institution's information resources, and an easy, yet powerful means of accessing all of that content from a single search box.
