ARVO honors inaugural journal achievement award recipients -

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) has announced the first-ever recipients of its journal achievement awards, recognizing outstanding contributions in peer review and editorial service across its three journals: Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science (IOVS), Journal of Vision (JOV), and Translational Vision Science & Technology (TVST).

The awards acknowledge individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their roles, with recipients selected based on workload, quality of work, and responsiveness. The 2025 honorees are:

Excellence in Peer Review Award

• IOVS: Rajashekhar Gangaraju, MS, PhD, FARVO (University of Tennessee Health Science Center)

• JOV: David Pascucci, PhD (Lausanne University Hospital, University of Lausanne)

• TVST: Alireza Karimi, PhD (Oregon Health & Science University)

Excellence in Editorial Service Award

• IOVS: Jeremy Guggenheim, PhD, FARVO (Cardiff University School of Optometry & Vision Sciences)

• JOV: Michael Landy, PhD (New York University)

• TVST: Pearse Keane, MD, FRCOphth, FARVO (Moorfields Eye Hospital)

The awards highlight the critical role of peer reviewers and editors in maintaining the quality of ARVO’s journals, particularly as submission volumes continue to rise. Their contributions ensure the integrity and impact of research in vision and ophthalmology.

The awards will be presented on May 6 at the General Business Meeting during the 2025 ARVO Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.
